The process of determining cause of death further extends into toxicology analyses which test for the presence of alcohol, illegal drugs, over-the-counter medicines, prescription medicines, and any other foreign substances.
Once the autopsy has been completed and toxicology samples have been tested, the pathologist provides a written report listing the findings and a final determination of cause of death.
